Marie C. Bachhuber (nee Weinsheim) of Milwaukee was born to eternal life April 25, 2024, age 100 years. Beloved wife of Martin L. Bachhuber, married 64 years before his death in 2015. Loving mother of Marty (Monika) Bachhuber, Mark Bachhuber, Michael (Stacy) Bachhuber and Mary (Kurt) Soens. Dearest grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of four. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Marcy Weinsheim and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Isadore and Cordella Weinsheim and her brother, Harold Weinsheim.
Marie was born in Woodland, WI in 1923. She was raised during the Great Depression and had her tonsils removed by Dr. Bachhuber (a relative of her future husband) on the kitchen table when she was eighteen months old. Marie turned eighteen on Dec 8, 1941- the day after The Day That Lived in Infamy. She graduated from Mayville High School and attended Milwaukee Business Institute. Later she worked for the Milwaukee school system and then married Martin Bachhuber in 1951. During the time when she was raising four children, she volunteered several years as a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader and worked at the school office at Christ King School. Marie was an avid bowler, golfed past her eightieth birthday and enjoyed socializing, prayer groups, travel and playing cards with friends. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit for forty-five years.
The funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church at 3970 N. 92nd Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53222 at 11:00am on Friday, May 3rd. Family will meet with relatives and friends from 10:30am until the time of Mass. Private burial will be on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Margaret Mary Parish.
