Virginia Schimmels Obituary

Virginia Mary Schimmels "Ginny"

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 31, 1929, the daughter of Matthew and Mary (nee Miers) Eul, Ginny was born to eternal life on May 24, 2021 while a resident at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The sister of three brothers, Ginny married Thomas J. Schimmels and they raised their family of four children in a loving and faith filled home on Milwaukee's northwest side, serving the Lord as very active members of Mother of Perpetual Help Parish.

Ginny was a devoted wife and mother, proudly standing with Tom when he was one of the first lay men ordained a deacon in the archdiocese of Milwaukee and active in her children's and later her grandchildren's interests, offering her love, support and direction as they grew. When Mother of Perpetual Help Parish merged and became part of Blessed Savior Catholic Church, Ginny continued to be active in the parish, serving on the Hospitality Committee during funeral visitations in the church besides being a "church lady" helper whenever needed until just prior to her death. Her infectious smile and truly caring demeanor lead her to become friends with everyone she met. She will be missed by all but will certainly live in their hearts.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Mary Eul; her devoted husband Deacon Thomas J. Schimmels,; her dear grandson Steven Lehman and her three brothers, Robert Eul, Donald (Carol) Eul and Thomas Eul. She is survived by her beloved children, Thomas P. Schimmels, Judy Lehman, Dan (Penny) Schimmels and Joe (Rachael) Schimmels; her cherished grandchildren, Kristen, Tim, Alan, Michael, Danielle, Tony and Niki and step-grandson Derek; her three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held for Ginny on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 9:30am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, all at Blessed Savior Catholic Church, 8545 West Villard Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53225. Entombment will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Luther Manor for making Ginny's final years of life comfortable and dignified.

"The Lord is my life and my salvation"  -  Psalm 27
