It’s with deep sadness to announce the sunset of my father, Thomas Jerome Taylor Jr. at the age of 79 on November 23, 2023. Thomas and Zetta Taylor, his parents, were blessed with my father’s sunrise on June 25, 1944. Thomas was the second of five siblings whom four of them he’s survived by: Jeanette Taylor Jones, Alvin Taylor, Yvonne Jones, and Diane Taylor.
He was a man filled with ambition, determination, and courage. These traits radiated throughout his lifetime. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education he went on to become a teacher at Hopkins elementary school, a lab technician at Columbia hospital, a private in the military and to all a surprise, a pilot operating small propeller planes.
He loved luxury cars and was always at the car shows. Music was his second love. I, Tamara Taylor, his only daughter, was proud to give birth to his granddaughter, Imani Mendenhall. He was a grandfather for the first time.
He was a true native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and he lived the entirety of his life in the cheese state. He spent his life living it to the fullest despite battling his illness, that he was diagnosed with later in life. His childhood friend, Kirby Lewis was a constant and supportive figure in my dad’s life.
My dad has now entered the pearly gates. He will be missed dearly and will forever have a place in all our hearts. He’s survived by a host of nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family a funeral nor memorial service will be held.
Rest in peace Dad
