Ruth Wolf of Cedarburg went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on February 7, 2025 at the earthly age of 97.
Ruth was a loving, strong, and faithful wife of Ed for over 65 years. She was the supportive and encouraging mother of Marty (Vicki) Wolf and Steve (Alison) Wolf. She was also the loving and generous Grammy of Joshua (Octavia) Wolf, Janna Wolf, Ian Wolf, Dan (Rachel) Wolf, Caleb (Kelsee) Wolf, Kara Wolf, Aaron (Neve) Wolf, Noelle Wolf and Sam Wolf and great grandmother to Adeline Wolf. Ruth is also survived by her loving sister-in-law Sandy (the late Bob), many wonderful nieces and nephews, and numerous friends spanning multiple generations.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents, William and Estella, her brothers, Ron and Bob, sister Joan, brothers-in-law Mel and Bob, sisters-in-law, Wanda and Caryl and her grandson, Ian.
Ruth grew up in Mequon where she met Ed in the 4th grade. She started working at a young age at Seyfert’s Drug Store in Thiensville and worked there part time for more than ten years. She graduated from Cedarburg High School and then Business College. Ruth moved to Eau Claire to work as the Controller for the E. M. Hale Publishing Company. While there, she and Ed began a long-distance courtship and they were married in 1954. Ed and Ruth moved to Cedarburg in 1960 and started a construction business which remained in the family until its sale in 2020. Ed and Ruth, along with several other families founded Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedarburg where Ruth remained a member. Ruth was very active in politics and gave generously to many charitable organizations. Her faith in God, strong determination, and resilience were an inspiration to all who knew her.
A memorial service giving thanks to God for Ruth’s life and Jesus’ saving work will be held on March 1st at 12 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church W76 N627 Wauwatosa Road in Cedarburg. A time to greet relatives and friends will precede the service from 10 am to 12 pm, with a lunch reception immediately following the service catered by the Prime Minister, where Ed and Ruth liked to take seminary student couples out for lunch after church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church are appreciated.
