Ruth Schneider

(nee Filo) peacefully passed away at the age of 97 on June 23, 2026, 4 days shy of her 98th birthday.  The daughter of Louis and Amalia "Molly" (nee Matusin), she was born in Milwaukee, WI on June 27, 1928.

Ruth married the love of her life, Peter Schneider, in 1949 and together they raised 6 children.  They celebrated 64 years of marriage prior to Pete's death in 2013.

Ruth is survived by her children, Tom (the late Carol), Bob (Mary), Jim (Francine), Carolyn (the late Ron) Staszewski, Mary (Dave) Oldson and Patty (Brad) Herda; her grandchildren, Leah, Beth, Bryan, Jamie, Kim, Zach, Erin, Noah, Ben and Kyle; her great-grandchildren, Robbie, Kaitlyn, Michael, Hunter, Jase, PJ, Adeline, Caroline, Lily, Nora, Brayden and Asher; her dear brother, Louis Filo and her devoted sister, Sue Neville. She is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Ruth was a longtime resident of Hartland Wisconsin.  She volunteered for many years at her parish church and was the "hub" of all family celebrations. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - who had affectionately titled her GMA or Gigi -  each knew how very special they were to her as there was not one "favorite" - just love in a "clump".  She maintained her own sassy humor until the end and will truly be missed by all.  

Ruth's family would like to thank the staff of Elizabeth Residence in New Berlin, WI and Badger Home Hospice for the kind, gentle and compassionate care that they provided to Ruth in her final days.

Visitation will be held for Ruth on Thursday July 16, 2026, from 1:00pm until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00pm, all at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Dr, Hartland, Wisconsin. Her final resting place will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church in Hartland.
