Age 68, of Hartland, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, surrounded by love. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, he is now free from pain and has entered eternal peace.
Rod was born on March 15, 1957 in Stanley, North Dakota, to Clifford and Irene Holter, and was raised in Minot, North Dakota. He married Kathy Kluck on July 22, 1978. In 1989, they moved to Hartland, Wisconsin, where they built a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to their family. Rod worked as an electrician with Union 494, a career he took great pride in.
Rod was a man of strength and quiet courage, always putting others before himself and never hesitating to lend a helping hand - especially to his neighbors. Above all else, he cherished his family and loved his grandchildren fiercely. His kindness, resilience, and unwavering love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
Rod found great joy in the outdoors and loved camping, boating, canoeing the Wisconsin River, hiking, and simply being outside. He especially enjoyed taking back-road trips and exploring wherever the road led. He also loved playing horseshoes, mini golf, Pinochle, and Solitaire, and treasured the time spent laughing and making memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Kathy; children: Nicole (Daniel) O'Connor, Sara Garity, Megan (Matt) Puthoff, and Kyle (Jenny); and his beloved grandchildren: Flint, Owen, Quinn, Eli, Ashton, Olivia, Camden, Liam, Declan, and Aedan.
While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Rod's suffering has ended and that he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the arms of the Lord.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 18, at 1:00 p.m., with a prayer service and time of sharing at 2:00 p.m., at Revere's Wells Street Tavern, 505 Wells Street, Delafield, WI 53018.
