Rodd Michael Witte
Born to life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 7, 1963, the son of Dennis and JoAnne Witte, Rodd passed away in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin on August 18, 2023, surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.
Rodd is survived by his dearly loved and cherished wife of 20 years, Jean M. Witte (nee Hodgson-Lechner) Witte; his beloved mother, JoAnne Witte; and his dear stepchildren, Kathryn (Tony) Garay, James (Sara Siever) Lechner and Christopher Lechner. He is further survived by his fond sister, Lian (the late William) Collins; and his nephew, Dane (Amanda) Collins and their son, Owen Collins. Rodd is the son-in-law of Ruth (nee Teichmiller) (the late James T.) Hodgson; and brother-in-law of Richard and Barbara Hodgson and Charles and Peggy Pikalek. He is further survived by his great aunt, Barbara Harris, and his loving pup Callie who never left is side, along with many other relatives and friends. In addition to those listed, Rodd was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Witte.
Rodd was a man with many talents and loves. He was very comfortable being in the great outdoors, especially if he could cast a line and catch a fish. His chef abilities in the kitchen were legendary, like the times when unexpected guests would be staying for a meal and extra servings were needed and he would stretch the portions by adding a little of thing and a little of that, yet never losing the savory favor in any of his dishes. He shared his love of music with all who knew him, and he thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of his work at the hospital. Most of all, Rodd was a man who loved celebrating life itself with the most important people in his life, that being his family.
The family will continue to celebrate Rodd’s life and invites you to join with them from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at their residence at 237 North 110th Place, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin 53226. Food, fellowship, and friendship will be the fare as they keep the significance of Rodd’s life alive by sharing stories about him with one another. When we stop telling the stories of Rodd is truly when he will leave this existence forever.
