Paul Victor Strain
Age 86. Peacefully born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Survived by his sister, Marie Strain, and caring nieces and nephews. Paul worked for New York Life Insurance for over 50 years. An American Legion Post #449 member, Paul often rented the Post’s cabin at Little Tomahawk Lake. He enjoyed rowing his boat to hear loons call, spot eagles and cranes and watch busy beavers. He loved playing classical guitar music. He met Gerry Geischer, his life-long friend, in 1964, when she was her invalid mother Irene’s caregiver. Paul built them a wheelchair ramp and often took Gerry and Irene out to dine. After Irene died, he joined Gerry on an Around the World, 35 day study trip. Later, they traveled like “Birds of the Air”, No reservations! Returning for nine summers, they hiked in the Swiss Alps among chiming cow bells. Paul skied down slopes with ease in Utah and Austria, but Riding UP the slopes spooked him! In Milwaukee, Paul proudly marched in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Paul was an altar boy (acolyte) at St. Michael’s Church. He sang in the Gesu Church choir. Paul attended Catholic Mass wherever he traveled. He is deeply missed. Visitation Wednesday April 12, from 9:30am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, all at Holy Family Parish Church, 4825 N. Wildwood Ave., Whitefish Bay. Reception to follow. Burial Thursday April 13 at 11am at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials to Gesu Catholic Parish (P.O. Box 495, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53233) requested.
