Patrick Warczak

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 29, 1937. Born to eternal life on June 20, 2021.

Patrick, of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, died on Father’s Day at the age of 83, following a short but valiant battle with Leukemia (AML). He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria (nee Ott), their two sons, Christopher of Manhattan, Kansas, and Patrick Jr. (Tanneill) of Kent, Ohio, and eight grandchildren. Preceding him in death was their daughter Victoria, who died at birth in 1961, and their firstborn son, Dennis, who passed away in 1996.

Both Patrick and Gloria lived a simple American life, raising their three boys in Cedarburg. They had a garden, providing vegetables for the family, and they loved to can fruits and vegetables. Summer days in the Warczak home were filled with the smells of vinegar from pickling, or the sweet aroma of rhubarb or strawberry jams. The family went on vacations across the United States, always by car, usually with the family cat in tow!

Over the last two decades, Gloria experienced many health problems, including diabetes and Macular Degeneration disease which rendered her legally blind. In early 2017, Gloria had open heart surgery and over the next three years slipped away into a fog of severe dementia. Patrick did his best to care for her at home. Finally, last year, Patrick made the difficult decision to have Gloria admitted to Belgium Gardens Assisted Living Facility where she remains today under hospice care.

In the face of this, Patrick seemed only to get stronger and healthier. He took on a newspaper delivery job, which he maintained for a few years. He continued to visit Gloria at the nursing home regularly, often taking her out for ice cream and getting to know the staff at the home. So it was with a bit of shock when in late May he was suddenly diagnosed with terminal leukemia and ended up at Belgium Gardens with Gloria. But he was with her to the very end.

A Catholic funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Francis Borgia Church in Cedarburg (1375 Covered Bridge Rd.).
