Age 94 years. Passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. Born on March 10, 1930 in Eldora, Iowa to Harry Holmes and Agnes (nee Bowman) Holmes.
Peacefully embraced into the loving arms of her Lord and welcomed into her eternal home by her awaiting family on December 1, 2024 at the age of 94 years old. Beloved wife for 39 years to the late John Kascht. Loving and caring mother of Dave (Susan), Steve (Jean), Jim (Janelle) and Tom. Adored Granny Goose to Jake, Mike, Kayla, Kassidy and Roy (Caitlin). Great Grandma to Henry and Teddy. Mary Lou devoted her life to her family, as they were the most important piece of who she was.
Preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Agnes, her husband, John, her sibling, Don Holmes, other relatives and friends.
Born in Eldora, Iowa, Mary Lou worked as a deed recorder at the Hardin County courthouse. She proceeded to Milwaukee and graduated from Marquette University where she met and married John Kascht and resided in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin where she raised her 4 sons with love and care.
She was a business partner of Chattel Changers, a consignment store in Shorewood, WI for over 50 years. On her Thursday off, if she wasn't spending time hanging out with her grandchildren shopping, mini golfing, swimming at Cool Waters and playing games, she volunteered doing layettes for the Christ Child Society. Mary Lou attended daily mass at Holy Family Parish in Whitefish Bay.
In addition to work, Mary Lou loved camping with her family, playing cards (Uno), golfing (especially in Myrtle Beach with Ribbs), reading, traveling, playing games and shamelessly spoiling her dog, Kamper. She had the brightest smile and best hugs.
Mary Lou was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She cherished her friendships as a sociable woman who loved to go places and have a good time, while never giving up her generous heart and unwavering love for her family. She loved getting together with her friends from kindergarten and visiting Eldora, Iowa. Her loving kindness and happy energy will be deeply missed by all those lives she touched. We will forever cherish the memories shared with this remarkable woman.
Mary Lou's family wants to share their heartfelt thanks with the staff of High Point Residence - Germantown South, who helped make her later years comfortable.
