Obituary

Beloved mother and wife, Mary Jane Gabric, age 67, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, passed on to eternal life on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.  She is survived by her devoted husband, Shawn Cloran, and their children, Dori, Henry, and Michael, who were the center of her world.

Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Doris Gabric and brother Rodney Gabric.  Also survived by her siblings and their spouses Paul and Carolyn Gabric, Crystal Gabric, David and Judy Gabric, Gail and Paul Oberlin, Jeff and Sarah Gabric, Jody and Douglas Moshier, and Lee and Carolyn Gabric.

Mary’s story began in 1958 on a dairy farm in Northeastern Ohio, where she learned early the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her life. A graduate of Marlington High School, she went on to pursue her passion for helping others through nutrition, earning her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Kent State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, achieving cum laude academic honors along the way.

Following her academic endeavors Mary held several positions with various organizations where she developed and honed her skills as a dietician and business executive.  However, her life’s most meaningful chapter began after she and Shawn moved to Wisconsin and joyfully welcomed three children into their lives in 2001.  Mary wholeheartedly embraced her new role as a mother. She devoted herself fully to raising her family, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and unwavering support.

As her children grew more independent, Mary once again in 2010 felt called to serve others, this time in the classroom. She became a middle and high school Family and Consumer Science teacher, where she brought patience, encouragement, and genuine care to her students. She had a special gift for helping young people believe in themselves and discover their own potential.

Mary’s love for life extended far beyond home and work. She found great joy in traveling and exploring the world, visiting destinations across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Yet no matter how far she journeyed, her heart remained rooted in her faith and her family. A devoted Christian, she made it a cherished tradition to return to Ohio each year to spend time with her siblings and reconnect with those she loved most.

In the face of terminal illness, Mary showed extraordinary strength and courage. During her battle with retroperitoneal liposarcoma and mantel cell lymphoma, she endured numerous surgeries, procedures, and treatments with remarkable resilience. Through it all, she remained steadfast fighting not only for herself, but for the family she loved so deeply. Even in her hardest moments, her faith did not waver, and her strength became a source of inspiration to everyone around her.

Those who knew Mary will remember her radiant spirit, her kindness, and the way she made everyone feel seen and cared for. Her beautiful smile and gentle strength left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Mary is now at peace, held in God’s loving care, and that her love will continue to live on in all of us.
