Martha Lunz
Glendale – Born May 18, 1941 to parents Frederick E. Pyeatt and Ruth (nee Fagan) Pyeatt in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Passed away quietly September 26, 2022 following a short illness. Loving wife and companion of John Lunz for 57 years; further survived by her children Peter (St. Thomas, USVI), David, Michael, the late Daniel, Mathew, and Ruth; grandchildren Tyler Christensen, Katherine, Thomas, and Daniel Lunz; sister Susan Ennis (Tulsa, Oklahoma); and many friends and relatives.
Martha was an avid reader and an accomplished calligrapher. She became an expert in the origin and development of fonts and created many beautiful works of art.
Martha brought her love of native prairies from Oklahoma and dedicated her life to creating sustainable landscapes. She practiced her beliefs in her own yard, creating a haven for insects and birds, and tirelessly advocated for others to do the same.
Martha shunned cremation (because of the high energy cost), and opted for a natural burial among the plants she so loved. Private graveside services were held at Prairie Rest area of Forest Home Cemetery.
Special thanks to Dr. Cotter and staff of Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Jelacic Funeral Home, and to all at Horizon Hospice who enabled Martha to spend her remaining time at home with us.
