Lavern "Terry" Bohannon Obituary

Lavern "Terry" Bohannon

Lavern "Terry" Bohannon was born 5/20/1951 in Dekalb, MS to Will "Hammer" Bohannon and Alberta Madison Bohannon.  There were 4 children born from this union; Lavern was the oldest.

Lavern attended West Kemper High School in Kemper County, MS.  He left school prior to graduating and began working.  At around 19 years old he decided to leave Dekalb, MS headed to Milwaukee, WI where he had family.  He would later send for his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ann Temple Bohannon. They married on June 12,1971.  They lived with family until they saved enough money to get their own apartment.

Lavern "Terry" Bohannon and Margaret Ann Bohannon had 3 daughters and 1 son from their union - Chelsie R Bohannon; Marsha R Bohannon; Sharon D Jacobs (Latrell); and Terrence L Bohannon.  Lavern also had a daughter from a previous relationship, TheResa Butler.  Although Lavern and Margaret divorced in 2009, they stayed in contact.

Lavern worked for General Split Corp, Peck Meat Packing and other companies early in his life.  As he developed his skills, he decided to get his CDL and became a truck driver.  Lavern would later purchase his own semi-trucks; he loved Peterbilt's. He drove trucks for over 30 years and had his own company, Bohannon Trucking.  Lavern enjoyed driving trucks; his job allowed him to travel all across the United States. In addition to trucking, he loved cars and motorcycles.

He is survived by his children: Chelsie R. Bohannon (WI), Marsha R. Bohannon (GA), Sharon D. Jacobs (Latrell) (WI), Terrence L. Bohannon (WI); TheResa Butler (AR); grandchildren:  Quintella R. Bohannon, Dustin K. Jackson, Camri Z. Jackson, Samera P. Black, Kayla S. Jacobs; great granddaughter Winter R. Bandy and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Lavern "Terry" Bohannon was called home on July 25, 2022. He is preceded in death by his ex-wife Margaret Ann Bohannon, father Will "Hammer" Bohannon, mother Alberta Bohannon and grandson Joshua Keshun Smith.

Lavern "Terry" Bohannon leaves behind his brothers Reon Bohannon and Lavelle Bohannon (Geraldine) of Milwaukee, WI and sister Sandra D Bohannon Mosley of Dekalb, MS.

On October 23, 2021, during one of the frequent calls he had with his granddaughter Qunitella, Lavern (Terry) accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Although he was her grandfather, Qunitella always called him Daddy and he always said she was his daughter.  They spoke almost daily, and she prayed with him.  He really enjoyed their talks.

Lavern, aka Terry as he would be quick to tell you was the name he went by, didn't take mess from anyone.  He had many ups and downs but kept going.  He helped many people throughout his life and was there for others when he was called on.  Lavern "Terry" lived a full life, loved his family and he was loved too.  He fought long and hard until the very end.  He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
