Obituary

Koyne Rudolph McKeown

September 22, 1987 - June 2, 2023

Heaven gained a special angel on June 2, 2023, when Koyne Rudolph McKeown donned his heavenly wings and joined the army of angels in heaven.

Koyne was lovingly brought into this world, the son of Kevin McKeown and Beth Holmgren. He was joined by his sister, Morgan McKeown, and his brother, Thor Holmgren, who loved him fiercely. They were blessed to be siblings that shared a rare friendship.

Koyne loved the outdoors, masterly exploring the world on his skateboard.  He had a great fondness for collecting geodes and he loved all creatures in God’s world. This is probably why he excelled at and loved science while at Saint Robert and Saint Monica’s Catholic Schools and then continuing on to Dominican High School. He then attended UW Milwaukee, where he studied Psychology. But his talent for articulate painting led him to share his gift, brightening the lives of others, one wall at a time.  His love of music and skills as a drummer entertained many over the years.

Above all else, Koyne was kind, loving, funny and had eyes that sparkled like the stars. Koyne, “K-Man,” will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. He will forever live on in our hearts and our memories.

Koyne was welcomed into heaven by his grandmothers, Claire “Mips” McKeown and Lynn Thompsen, great uncle, Rudolph Randa, uncle, Paul Linn and cousin, Madeleine Hoy who pre-deceased him. Left to forever cherish his memory are his parents Beth Holmgren (James Gage) and Kevin McKeown, his siblings Morgan McKeown and Thor Holmgren (Grace Tressler), his special nephews, Kai and Koa, grandparents Patrick McKeown and Richard (Tatyana) Thompsen, great aunt Melinda Randa, uncles and aunts Patrick (Rebecca) McKeown, Holly (Terry) Hoy, Heidi (Murray) Feely, Colleen Linn, Chris (Nicole) McKeown, Claire (Idil) Yorulmazoglu, Geoff (Christa) Thompsen, Lisa (Jeff) Tomachek, cousins Rudy, Dan, Pat, Rory, Joe, Molly, Emma, Adeliene, Emily, Isabelle, Scarlett, Trevor, Frederica, Josephine, Swithin, Jim, Peter, Lucy, Connor, Lauren, Natale, Ava, Colin, Ben, Nick, Chris, Luke and Jake.

Visitation will be held at 9:30-11:00 AM on Thursday, June 8 at Saint Robert’s Catholic Church, 2224 East Capitol Drive, Shorewood, WI, 53211. A mass will immediately follow.  Burial will take place at 12:30 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7301 West Nash St., Milwaukee, WI 53216.  Following burial, a celebration of Koyne’s life will take place at Estabrook Park, Picnic Site #5 where we will share food and memories with family, friends.

In Memory of Koyne, donations may be made to NAMI SEWI, 2717 North Grandview Boulevard Suite 205, Waukesha, WI 53186 or St. Robert Parish, Shorewood, WI.
