Obituary

Kathleen Marie Halloran (nee Sherlock)

September 22, 1963 – May 20, 2025

Kathy M. Halloran found peace at age 61 years.

Beloved Wife of Mark Halloran. Dear mother of Jessica (Ryan) Churby, Katie (Paiam) Pouria, and Amanda (Jake Harleman). Cherished grandmother of Nathan, Cameron, and Emma Churby; Hannah and Hailey Pouria; and Everly Halloran-Harleman. Adoring daughter of Joan Sherlock. Loving sister of Chris (Larry) Shobe, Karen Hagen (Bill Snow), Patty (Bill) Miller, Mike (Lisa) Sherlock, and Dan Sherlock. Also survived by brothers-in-law Bill (Pam) Halloran, Paul (Christy) Halloran, Dave Halloran, and Jack Halloran. Preceded in death by her most loving father William Sherlock, father in-law Dr. William Halloran, mother in-law Cindy Halloran, and sister in-law Mary Beth Halloran.  Further survived by other loving relatives and many friends.

Kathy was born and raised in Shorewood, WI. She attended St Robert grade school and continued her education at Shorewood High School, where she graduated in 1982. After high school, she was soon introduced to her future husband Mark by her sister Chris at the legendary east side watering hole Platz. Mark and Kathy went on to marry on May 16th, 1987 at St Robert Parish in Shorewood WI. They spent the next 38 years together filled with a deep love for each other and thousands of laughs. They were inseparable from the start of their lives together.

Shortly after their marriage, Mark’s new job brought them to California, where they raised their wonderful family.  They were blessed with three beautiful daughters and 6 grandchildren.  Above anything else, Kathy valued her family!  She was the heart and soul of not only her immediate family, but also her extended family. She was more than just a wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, or in-law.  She was a true friend to every family member and cared so deeply about all of them. As much as she cared about all, she still had a special place in her heart reserved for her daughters and their families, especially her grandchildren.  You could never talk to Kathy without her gloating about any or all of them.  Along with Mark, she spent countless hours watching over her grandchildren and she considered every second she spent with them an absolute blessing.

Kathy enjoyed the simple things in life.  She was always up for having a cocktail in their backyard spa with Mark or going on camping trips with her daughters and grandchildren. When she was able to make it back to WI to visit family and friends, she had a checklist of her favorite spots that she had to visit. The Bradford Beach Tiki Bar, and her four favorite WI pizza restaurants (Chuck’s place, Lisa’s, Zaffiro’s, and Rocky’s) were some of the regular places that she had to check off her list annually.  Some of the best family memories with Kathy were made in the WI Dells at the Wilderness Resort where she loved to visit as often as she could.  It was important to her to carry on the Sherlock WI Dells annual family vacation tradition which was started in her youth when she would go with her parents and siblings… she has now passed this tradition on to her daughters and grandchildren.  Regardless of the venue though, Kathy just wanted to be surrounded by family and friends as often as possible and always seemed to be the first to suggest that it’s “cocktail time”.

Once she received her cancer diagnosis, Kathy fought without complaint or any negativity.  The only wish she had was to be surrounded by her family and friends until the end. Her wish was more than granted by her loving family that cared tirelessly for her until she took her final breath, just days after celebrating Mother’s Day with her family, and her 38th wedding anniversary with Mark.

We will always remember Kathy’s beautiful smile, her kind and gentle heart, and her contagious laugh!

A Celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at a later date to honor her memory among friends and family.
