Obituary

Juanita Marie Burnley

Of Milwaukee, WI, was born June 6, 1943 in Chicago, IL to birth father Leroy Williams and mother Bernice (Helm) Bradley. Walter Bradley (stepfather) who lovingly helped raise Juanita from a very young age, as she always gave him credit as her father. Early into adulthood she gave birth to her first child. Over a decade later, she would become the hard-working mother of nine children.

She attended Dunbar Vocational High School in Chicago, IL, completing her education and obtaining her diploma at Kennedy-King College. Throughout the years to follow, she was a diligent woman, working various jobs to support her family. She retired from Milwaukee County after being a dedicated employee for over 15 years.

Juanita was a loving and caring family woman who would do anything for anyone. She not only lovingly provided for her family but was known by neighbors for her generous spirit. Her kind nature opened the door to many friends, considering them as extended family. Most importantly, she developed a friendship with Jehovah God and recognized Jesus as Lord and Savior. She spent the last few years of her spiritual journey studying the Bible and attending Christian meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses. She was an amazing example of seeking God, making it a point to read the scriptures daily.

There was never a dull moment when Juanita was present. She had an amazing personality and a smile that could brighten the universe. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking meals galore. At cookouts, her family would never get enough of her biscuits, potato salad, yams, greens, just to name a few dishes she cooked to perfection. She also loved shopping, spending hours at Walmart going down each and every aisle. There, she would load up on yarn as crocheting was her favorite pastime.

Although Juanita battled many health challenges for almost two decades, she fought a fine fight. On May 11, 2020, her battle ended as she yielded to her ailments, passing away at the age of 76. Her last moments were peaceful. Under hospice care at home, she was lovingly surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents - mother, Bernice Bradley; stepfather, Walter Bradley; birth father, LeRoy Williams; brother, LeRoy R Williams; and great granddaughter Khailei McBride.

Juanita Burnley leaves to cherish her memory and lasting love – four daughters, Cynthia Williams, Rosia Flenorl, Cheryl Burnley, and Michelle Burnley; five sons, Robert Williams, Manuel Burnley, Walter Burnley, Peter Burnley, and Samuel Burnley; ten grandsons – Leonard Burnley, Stephen McMillan, LeRoy McMillan, Robert Burnley, Manuel Burnley, Devonte Smith, Devonte Burnley, Deonte Burnley, Derrell Burnley, Deontre Gooden; six granddaughters, Nicole Flenorl, Taja McMillan, Shaunte Ferguson, Teashana  Burnley, Shakaris Burnley, and Kaporchea Burnley.
