Age 86 - Preceded in death by husband Lee J. Smith; parents John and Helen Taphorn; brothers, Walter, Werner, Ray (Frannie) , Robert (Lois) and James Taphorn; sisters, Rita (Leo) Schulte and Marian (Urban) Roeder; brother-in-laws; Greg Sibenaller and Pete Rethman. Survived by children; Steve (Sara) Smith, Suzanne (Daryl) Chapman, Kim (Jeff) Kincaid, Michael Smith, Sean (Donna) Smith; grandchildren; Matt (Jess) Smith, Megan Smith and Mallory Chapman; great-grandchildren; Kasie and Harper Smith; sisters; Clara Sibenaller, Sr. Janet Taphorn OSF, Irene Rethman and Lois Galles; sister-in-law; Joan Taphorn. Many extended family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joan on April 13, 2021 at10:00am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 1920 North 102nd Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68114; all family and friends are invited.
