Obituary

James Scott Wrolstad “Jim Bob” found his eternal fishing hole in heaven on Sunday December 11, 2022 at age 82. Preceded in death by his wife Susan. Jim was survived by his 4 children Eric (Theresa) Wrolstad, Dawn (Dan) McCreary, Kristin (Kurt) Kopcha, and Jason (Toni) Wrostad).  Jim was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren who he adored; Delaney, Cal, and Shealee McCreary; Kennedy, Maddie, and Ava Kopcha; Catelynn and Sam Wrolstad. Jim is survived by 1 brother, Walter “Bud” Wrolstad, and other friends and relatives.

Jim retired from Western Weighing and Inspection Bureau after 32 years of investigating railways in the Midwest. For years he was also involved in railroad unions and elected as local president and then later as chairman of transportation communications union.

Jim was also a proud US Air Force veteran, stationed in Germany for most of his service career in the early to mid-1960’s.

Jim had a tremendous love for the outdoors; fishing, hunting, and boating were some of his favorites. He was one of the 7 founding members of the Okauchee Fishing Club. He was also the founder, first president, and past Chairman of the Walleyes Unlimited USA, a fishing club of Wisconsin and Illinois. In 2007 Jim and the Walleyes Unlimited were inducted into the International Fresh Water Hall of Fame in Hayward Wisconsin. During the 1970’s and 80’s Jim was an outdoor writer for Fishing Facts magazine and acted as a contributor, associate and senior editor. He served as a past member of the Outdoor Writers Association, Great Lakes Outdoor Writer’s Association Inc., and Badger Outdoor Writers. Jim always fought hard for the rights of outdoor lovers in Wisconsin by being a longstanding elected member of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress.

Jim loved his “Up North” time at the family fishing and hunting lodge in northern Wisconsin. For over 15 years our family enjoyed the Eagle River/Three Lakes area each summer; many precious memories were made fishing, boating, and telling stories around a good meal or playing cards.

Jim and his family would like to thank the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care, Washington Shared Ride Taxi, The Gardens of Hartford, and Kathy House Hospice in West Bend.
