Obituary

James Demure Towns, affectionately known as "Poppy" was born on September 1, 1978, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Larry Towns Sr. and Jwana Towns (Robert). His da, Larry Towns Sr. preceded him in death.

James received his education in the Milwaukee Public Schools and obtained his GED. James had many skills and talents that included landscaping and personal training.

James received Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a very young age when his mom made him, and his siblings, attend church services every Sunday. It is at a very young age, where James began his ministry of selfless giving and sacrifice. James was an exemplary man who had great impact on every individual that he encountered. He was a man of stature, who was giving, kind and encouraging. He had a way with words and had no issues with engaging in a great debate. During the span of his lifetime, James "Poppy" met and encouraged many men. He was a selfless man who spoke life into each person, regardless of their circumstances. He was a mentor with a passion for seeing men win and once you were considered family, he was a protector as well. These men were his brothers and will forever be a part of his heart.

James loved sports and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. He enjoyed playing chess, Pokeno, spades and video games with his family and friends. he was always up for a challenge and was very competitive. If he was losing, you were cheating.

He loved to gamble and if you couldn't find him, you would more than likely find him at the "pot" Potowatomi. He said it "made him feel alive', until he lost (but don't you tell him that).

James was a man with style and grace and made sure his attire was always on point. From his head to his feet, it was mandatory that he be put together. He loved his family tremendously, and family gatherings were a must on a consistent basis. He loved good music, old and new, and wasn't ashamed to show you a smooth move to two.

James loved his family. He had a sensitive side that everyone didn't get to see, but if you were family, you saw a glimpse here and there. He had the biggest stature in the family, yet the biggest heart and he gave great gifts. Last but certainly not least, HE WAS A GREAT FIGHTER, IN THE PHYSICAL AND SPIRIT.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents Lillie Jean, Loretta, Clark and Sammie Lee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his fiance' LaTreice; children Demere and Larry; grandchildren, Ari, Jonothan, and Cy'Nia (Tinka); siblings, Arquilla (Terry), Larry Jr. (Cynthia), Dionne (Bennie), LaTonya (Mazeroski), Danielle, Lachelle, and Latonya-Pnut (Rodney); uncles, Kevin (Virginia) and Kraig (Rebecca); nieces and nephews, Natasha, Breon, Alexis, Ronnie, Iyonnah, JuWaun, Iran, Kareem, and Christian; and a host more. he also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of great nieces/nephews, cousin, extended family and friends.
