James Martin Sheahan passed away on July 1st after a quick battle with an aggressive cancer. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his illness with strength, courage, and grace. He was preceded in death by his beloved father James Joseph Sheahan, his mother Betty Ann Harrington and his brother Jerome Sheahan.
James knew the importance of family and made sure to spend as much time as possible with his loved ones. No relationship was more important to him than the marriage to his wife of 53 years Sandra (nee Miller). James had a very close and unbreakable bond with his son James (Susan) and his daughter Kelli (Paul). His grandchildren were a huge source of pride for him, and he built a very special relationship with Josh and Noah, as well as his "beauty" Sabella. James was very fond of his sister Debra Heil (John) and late brother David. He cherished the times he spent with his sisters, Danelle and Mary Kay. He loved his step granddaughter Danielle Fennessy.
James was a proud US Navy veteran and was honored to protect our country by fearlessly spending 27 months in an active combat zone during the Vietnam War. James was more than proud of the time he spent aboard the USS Ranger (CVA-61). One of the best days of his life was the day he was honored on the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight, flight #50.
On his final day, he was surrounded by his beloved wife, his children, grandchildren, and special members of the family.
James was an Irishman through and through and will be missed more than even he could have imagined.
Full military honor services will be held for James on Tuesday, July 18th at 11:00 AM, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI 53182. A luncheon will follow at Kelli's residence, located at 5431 North Shasta Drive, Glendale, WI 53209.
