James Dennis Crowley, born September 1, 1942, to John and Madelyn (Yesko) Crowley, passed away peacefully February 20, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
A graduate of Washington High School, Crowley was a driven student and an accomplished multi-sport athlete, developing a love to always seemingly be on the move. Whether it was on the handball court, the oval track or the softball field, James seemed to always be in motion. As a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee) ROTC, Crowley served in the USAF Reserves before becoming a claims adjuster with State Farm Insurance. After a decorated forty-year career, he turned his attention back toward hitting the road and exploring the globe. When he wasn’t clocking endless miles on the treadmill, Crowley could be found hiking the peaks of Nepal, exploring the trails of the Andes, or roaming the countryside of Ireland. If there was travel available and a pub nearby, Jim wanted to see what the country had in store. His wanderlust was limited only by the number of pages of his well-worn passport and the treads of his hiking shoes.
Survived by his nieces, Kathleen Crowley and Colleen Fisher (Kevin), and adored great niece Chelsea Fisher, he was preceded in death by both his parents as well as his brothers John and Thomas.
Committal prayers will be held for James on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 11:30am at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 7301 West Nash Street, Milwaukee. Interment to follow. Note date change.
