Jacqueline Janet Dotson
Born on March 29, 1943, in Bonita, Louisiana, the daughter of Clifton Fort and Mildred Cunningham Fort. She received her formal education first at Union High School in Mer Rouge Louisiana, then at St. Benedict High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She furthered her education by receiving a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee.
Janet Jacqueline accepted Christ as her Savior at and early age and attended with St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with Rev. Johnson providing church leadership. She was united in holy matrimony with Fred L. Jackson on February 5, 1965 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were blessed with three children from this union: Fred, Rosalind and Derrick.
Janet Jaqueline was employed by the Milwaukee County Transit System as a bus operator for 16 years. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, do it yourself home updates, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Janet Jaqueline Dotson passed away peacefully on October 24, 2019 in Muskego, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Mildred Fort; her brother, Clifton Fort, Jr.; and her sisters, Doris Jean Levy and Sedell Watt. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Fred A. Jackson, Rosalind R. Jackson and Derrick L. Jackson; her grandchild, Jazzlind J. Jackson; her sisters, Gloria Sprewer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Patricia (Albert) Kinsey of Englewood, Cailifornia and Evelyn Goosby or Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Theodis (Shirley) Fort of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Larry B. Fort of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation Friday, November 1, 2019, from 10:00AM until the time of services at 11:00AM, all at St. Mark AME Church, 1616 West Atkinson Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53206. Interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
