Frank Perkins, Jr.
Born on August 14, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. Frank attended and graduated from Soldan High School. He then entered the U.S. army, serving his country for two years. Upon leaving the Army, Frank returned to his hometown where he worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a case worker. A visit to Milwaukee, WI to visit his sister resulted in meeting his future wife Rose. Frank was united in Holy Matrimony to Rose Blevins. To this union, there were three children, Felicia and Alecia (twins) and Tyrelle. Frank went on to work at the United States Postal Service as a clerk and union representative/officer for over 30 years until retirement.
Frank kept busy throughout his retirement by working part time at the Brown Deer Recycling Center. He became the reason many residents came to “drop off ” items more than once during the same day, simply to enjoy a good conversation. In addition to his part time job, Frank volunteered at the Brown Deer Elementary School tutoring children, along with helping out during recess time. Frank also participated in the local recreation center and joined a weekly bowling league. Frank was very active in church as well, helping with the financial collection each week. Frank’s infectious personality, humor and ability to connect with people was a strength known to all. He made any and all people he met feel heard and seen.
Frank left this life peacefully on May 24, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose, his mother (Myrtle) and father (Frank) and his sister (Mary Jane). Loving memories will forever be cherished by his daughters Felicia and Alecia, son Tyrelle (Shelley); and two granddaughters, Imani and Taylor; his sisters (Lavenia, Janice, Nadine), brother (Kenneth) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held for Frank on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 10:30am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1927 N. Vel Phillips Ave. (4th St.) Milwaukee. Private entombment will follow the Mass at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
