Ernest Robert Kenner, Jr.
Ernest R. Kenner, Jr. was born on January 19, 1929, to Ernest Robert Kenner, Sr. and Ola Mae Cantrell in Atlanta, Georgia.
Reverend Kenner received his formal education at Coolidge Elementary School in Phoenix, Illinois, and Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois. He continued his studies at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, and received his certificate in Ministry. Reverend Kenner accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at the age of twenty-four and was united with Daniel Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Phoenix, Illinois, where he served as an Associate Pastor.
On June 27, 1953, Ernest Kenner was united in holy matrimony with Mardene Mackey in Phoenix, Illinois. Their union was blessed with six children.
On March 1, 1946, Ernest enlisted into the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged on October 24, 1947.
During his career he was an auto mechanic and a Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed gardening and complicated jigsaw puzzles.
Ernest Robert Kenner, Jr. departed this life on November 27, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Kenner, Sr. and Ola Mae Mitchell Kenner; sister, Jimmie Carraway; and brothers, Charles, William, and Larry Kenner.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mardene Mackey Kenner; daughter, Monica (Rashinder) Lal; sons, Derek (Donna) Kenner, Donald (Patricia) Kenner, Brian (Donna) Kenner, Rodney (Sharon) Kenner of Kansas City, Missouri, and Phillip (Delois) Kenner of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He also leaves to cherish a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held for Ernest on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 11:00am until the time of services at 12:00 Noon, all at Sweet Communion Baptist Church, 3765 North 35th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53216. Interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 2:00pm.
