Eileen “Leenie” Ruth Martis, born on August 2nd, 1956, in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly in her home on November 4th, 2023, at the age of 67. Eileen, daughter of Louis and Geraldine Filo, is survived by her children Joseph (Sarah) and grandchildren, Franklin and Evelyn, Michael (Rachel) and grandsons, Madison and Morgan, and Patricia (Eric).
Eileen, the third of four siblings (Michael, Richard, and Bill), was a fun-loving sister to her group of animated brothers. She graduated from Menomonee Falls High School where she participated in track and field, making the state finals in the shot put.
Eileen met her beloved husband, Ronald (recently deceased in January), and they married on August 7th, 1982. Together, they shared 40 wonderful years of a loving marriage. Ron and Eileen built an incredible life together in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin where they raised their family.
Eileen spent most of her working years as a Bakery Manager at Sentry Foods. She was an incredible cook who loved to show her affection towards others in her culinary genius. She never followed a recipe straight out of the book and always made sure everyone had something delectable at their fingertips. Many family functions were surrounded in anticipation of what dessert or dish Auntie Eileen was going to make for that gathering.
Eileen had the biggest heart and always made time for everyone around her. When you talked to her she made you feel like the most important person in the room and her wit and silliness made any situation feel so open and warm. She took pleasure in the simple things in life and always looked on the bright side of things. Her smile and positivity radiated in everything she did. She was the most devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and no task was ever too tall. She never complained and always put others before herself.
In her free time, she was passionate about cooking, reading, keeping up with family, and Wisconsin sports teams. On many days, Grandma Leenie’s “woo-hoo’s” could be heard throughout the neighborhood anytime one of her teams scored. Her early departure will be felt by so many that were impacted by her infectious laugh, genuine kindness, and never ending love.
To honor her memory, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Eileen on Saturday, November 11th 2023, from 11:00AM - 3:00PM, at Maggiano’s Restaurant, 2500 N Mayfair Road, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin 53226.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family requested.
