Donna M. Laughlin

Of Fox Point, Wisconsin, found peace after a long illness on June 12, 2021 at age 56 years. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved father, Richard R. Laughlin. She is the loving daughter of Ruth (nee Dybul) Laughlin; dear sister of Steve, Mike (Lisa), Dan (Donna) and Joe (Becky) Laughlin; and the cherished aunt of A.J., Michelle and Robert Laughlin. Donna was the proud "dog mom" of Ellie. She also is survived by other relatives and friends.

Donna was born at St Joseph’s Hospital on December 12, 1964, the only girl to a family of four boys. She was the middle child, and she was the glue that held the brothers and family together. Donna was quick witted, and always knew what to say.  Donna was lovingly called “Auntie Donna”.  So many of us were grateful for her help and support as we raised our children, she was their second Mother. She gave guidance, love and laughter; with Donna around there was never a shortage of fun.

A nature lover at heart, Donna, would spend countless hours in her element. Whether it be sunbathing in the yard, on a boat, or wherever... she would never miss a ray of sunshine.  We could always find Donna in her yard, tending her flowers, mowing her lawn, watching her dogs and making sure her bird feeders were full with a glass of wine in hand. Donna saved countless dogs from all over the US, in conjunction with JR Pups and Stuff.  She volunteered with this organization and fostered and found families for many dogs. 

Donna was a graduate of St. Robert Grade School and Shorewood High School. She worked as the Director at the Highlands at Riverwalk Community in Mequon, Wisconsin. Her residents were her second family, she knew all of them very well.  She hosted elaborately decorated holiday parties, which they all enjoyed. Whether in the parking lot or however she needed to make it happen, her Elvis sing a longs were hugely attended. Together they enjoyed outings to Brewer games, Potawatomi and any other opportunities she could find to engage her residents and create good memories. 

A memorial gathering will be held for Donna on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am, all at St. Robert Catholic Church, 2214 East Capitol Drive, Shorewood, Wisconsin.
