David Mayr
David Mayr, 66, of Beaver Dam, passed away on April 9, 2022. David was an incredibly special soul, born on July 22, 1955, a twin with his sister, to his parents, Joseph and Dolores (Lorry) (Laughlin) Mayr, Sr. in Columbus, WI. Although David was born blind and had a mental disability, he was a very loving man, best baby cuddler and rocker. He was a self-taught piano and accordian player. He enjoyed listening to a variety of music and especially enjoyed a brandy during the holidays. David was a fiercely independent man who had a full-time job most of his adulthood at Green Valley Enterprises in Beaver Dam. In more than one occasion he would venture to the Beaver Dam movie theater to "watch" the most recent flicks. David had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke. David took great pride in participating actively in the Wisconsin Special Olympics and loved attending Wisconsin Lions Camp for the Blind in Rosholt, WI.
David was predeceased by his parents Joseph H. Mayr, Sr. and Dolores Mayr. He is survived by his siblings James (Angie) Mayr, Joanne Hanson, Joseph (Amy) Mayr, Jr., Dianne Mayr, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Private family services will be held at St. Columbkille Catholic Church and Cemetery, Columbus, Wisconsin at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wisconsin Special Olympics in David's honor.
