Betty Jane Weissman-Fritz Obituary

Betty Jane Weissman-Fritz of Hubertus, WI, at the age of 93, passed away peacefully on January 16th, 2024. Betty was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 1st, 1931 to Wendel and Mary Klamik (nee Jelacic). She was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband Charles Weissman and a devoted mother to their six children Jane, Chuck, Gary, Wendy, Rick and Randy.

Betty went to school at Girls Tech of Milwaukee. One of her fondest memories was marching in the band with her sisters, she was the youngest of five girls, Frances, Mary Ann, Elaine and Lorraine. Betty grew up living above the family business, and she told many stories about how young she was working at their bar and serving drinks to the customers. Her favorite part of the day was when she would get to pick out candy from their store.

Betty married her first love, Charlie Weissman at a very young age. She was a stay at home mother, whose priority was always her children. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and her home made dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She also enjoyed working outside and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She loved her dogs and at one time she had five, Mitzi, Ginger, Jasper, Gladys and Buffy to name a few. Not only did she groom her dogs but she also enjoyed cutting her children’s hair. Betty’s other interests were sewing, exercising, watching her children play sports and traveling to twirling competitions through out the midwest with her daughter Wendy.

When she lost her first born daughter Jane at the age of 18 and her husband Charlie at 52, she stayed strong for her children and immediately got a job to provide for her family. As time went on Betty met her second love Clifford Fritz, and they became best friends and would soon marry. They eventually moved to his homestead on Little Friess Lake called “Fritzville.” Betty enjoyed dancing and listening to Cliff play the accordion in the Polka band. When her children started their own business, she was right there helping them every step of the way. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved taking pictures and home videos to share with friends and family, in person and on Facebook.

After Cliff’s passing, Betty chose to stay in her home with the love and support of her family. She continued to stay active and loved celebrating her birthdays and holidays with everyone. Betty was a strong, proud and independent women who lived on her own for almost 8 years until the angels called from above. Betty is survived by her children Chuck, Gary, Wendy, Rick, and Randy, her son in-law and daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister and her “best buddy,” Bella her dog.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Wendy and Dave Iverson for continuing to provide the same love and care to our mother’s dog. To Allen and Lee Fritz for looking out for our mother and their continued help to preserve “Fritzville.” To all the caretakers who kept her healthy, to live a long and prosperous life of 93 years. And to our cousin Mark Jelacic of Jelacic Funeral Home for taking good care of our mother until she goes to her final resting place.

Betty “Bet” was a loving, caring and generous person whose beautiful blue eyes and smile would light up any room. There are no words to explain how much we will miss her!

A private memorial will be held in April at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, WI where she will be laid to rest by her husband Charles Weissman and daughter Jane Weissman. To her dearest Cliff, “You’ll always have a piece of my heart!”
