Arthur Ehnert Obituary

Arthur Richard Ehnert

June 30th, 1943 – January 16th, 2021

Arthur "Art" came into the world at home in Milwaukee. He was the third child for parents Melvin R. Ehnert and Henriette (nee Hackbart). The family moved to the Village of Menomonee Falls in 1960. The Village was the birthplace of his father and a long line of Ehnert's. Art was named for his grandfathers.

One of his earlier jobs was working for Leissring's Service Station in Butler. He also served as a volunteer with the Butler Fire Department.

In 1964, Art enlisted in the United States Army which was a surprise to his mother. He served three years, including two years in Germany. A place that left a lasting impression on him. Later in life he was able to revisit Germany with a friend. He brought back new memories and stories to share.

After leaving the service, Art started his truck driving career with Express Freight Lines. And for a time he was an owner-operator with several trucks and drivers working for him. Art would finish his career with USF Holland in 1997. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 200.

Art met Pat Stuettgen at a wedding. They would get married in 1969 and have two boys, Todd and Don. They built a wonderful life in Menomonee Falls where Art was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church including volunteering many years as an usher.

For his retirement gift, Art bought a red Ford F-350 dually truck. The truck would quickly become recognized around town. Anytime Art's truck was spotted at a McDonald's you could expect a social gathering inside. It would be one of the hardest things for him to miss in the year of the Pandemic.

Art loved to travel, especially with family and friends. He bought a travel trailer for his red pickup truck and he would take many trips with that trailer. And at the end of each day he loved to sit around a campfire.

When Art wasn't traveling, he enjoyed bowling. He was in many leagues and loved attending tournaments. Art organized the Grace Church teams for the Lutheran Bowling Tournament for 10 years.

Closer to home, Art enjoyed the waterfall feature he built as well as gardening and watching the birds. He loved being outside and took on many landscape projects and snow removal jobs for his elderly neighbors, family and friends. Art also enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and Badgers play on TV and in person.

Art loved life and enjoyed making us all laugh. He fought hard the last year of his life. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Art is lovingly remembered by his dear wife Pat and his children Todd (Kristina) Ehnert, Don (Desiree') Ehnert and grandchildren Danielle, Dylan, Warren and Wesley Ehnert. Son-in-law of Charlotte (the late Kenneth) Stuettgen. Brother of Melvin (Kathy) Ehnert and Carol Ehnert. Brother-in-law of Allen (Heidi) Stuettgen and Nancy (the late Bernie) Hearley. Also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
