Anthony H. (Sam) Sanders, 65, was called to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 6, after experiencing an overall decline in health the last two years.
He leaves behind his beloved one and only child Jonathan Sanders, 16, five siblings, Jim (Rita), Fran (Marty), Don (Mary), Rita Falsey, and Sandy (Matt) Singer, sisters-in-law Claudia and Donna, several nephews and nieces, and his former wife and enduring friend, Jaci Sanders.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Irene Sanders (Cohorst), and two brothers, George and Edward.
Sam was born in Menominee, MI and grew up in Peshtigo, WI where he enjoyed playing in the creek catching turtles and fish as a little boy, deer and pheasant hunting with his dad and siblings, water skiing with his siblings on the Peshtigo River, and happily cruising his 57 Chevy around town with friends. Sam earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a masters in robotics from UW Madison. Sam began his career working at IBM before becoming self-employed as a consultant. Sam eventually switched fields and worked as a licensed insurance agent for several years and later enjoyed interacting with passengers as an Uber/Lyft driver. Sam was an avid football fan and tried not to miss any Badger or Packer games.
Sam was a handyman. In addition to his mechanical skills, he had a passion for woodworking and could regularly be found in his garage or basement after work building a piece of furniture. He was always willing to extend a helping hand to family and friends and to assist them with their home projects when he had time. Sam had a great sense of humor and was always ready for adventure. He enjoyed serving at church as an usher and greeter and also regularly attended bible study groups at each church he became a member of once he was saved, including Elmbrook Church - Brookfield, First Assembly of God – Kenosha, and Spring Creek Church - Pewaukee.
Please join us to celebrate Sam's life at Spring Creek Church, N35W22000 W Capitol Dr, Pewaukee, WI 53072 on Friday, May 23rd, 2025. Visitation will be from 3:00pm until the time of the service at 4:00pm all at the church.
Special thanks to the family and friends who stayed in touch with Sam in the final years of his life, to the doctors and staff from Froedtert, Waukesha Memorial Hospital, to the mental health facilities where Sam received care the past two years, and to the caregivers from Grace Supportive Group Home in Milwaukee where he lived the last months of his earthly life and peacefully passed away.
