Anthony Mulert Obituary

Oconomowoc – Anthony “Tony” Mulert, passed away peacefully Sunday the 14th of March at AngelsGrace Hospice. His children, Mark, Mary Jo, Tony, and Terry were with him for his final days.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 10, 1934, he was proud of his childhood neighborhood of Williamsburg.

Tony left high school to join the Air Force. After deployment to Korea, he was stationed in El Paso Texas. At discharge Tony followed friend Sebastian Serio to Milwaukee where he met the love-of-his life and spouse of 62 years. He once wrote to her that New York was the greatest city in the world, but it was missing one thing – Joanne.

Tony and Joanne lived in Wauwatosa for 32 years where they raised their 4 children. They moved to Brookfield in 1992 and in 2017 they moved to Shorehaven in Oconomowoc.

Tony was an amazing husband, father, friend, and role model. His smile, laughter and positive, can-do attitude are remembered by all who knew him. He never met a stranger, he met new friends!

Tony established himself at The Falk Corporation where he excelled on the industrial league fastpitch softball and basketball teams. Over his 40-year career he advanced from a heat-treating machine operator to inventory control manager which required night school college courses, completed while raising 4 children.

Amazingly, he adjusted his Falk hours to 3rd shift so he and Joanne could open and run the Groom Room, a dog grooming shop, which lasted 10 years. Tony showed his first Standard Poodle in AKC obedience trials, was a dog trainer, always had multiple dogs, and raised 2 litters of puppies. And he still found time to coach numerous sports teams for his kids.

Tony actively led the family, his friends, and their neighbors in social activities such as summer camping trips, Packer tailgating, and summer barbecues with boat rides at Shorehaven.

Tony never did anything half-heartedly!

He is survived by his children Mark (Lee), Mary Jo (Jim) Mueller, Tony (Susan), and Terry (Paula); grandchildren Jim (Lauren) Mueller, Paul (Katrina) Mueller, Susan Mueller, Claire, Kevin, Carly, Samantha, and Francis Castillo de Mulert; and 5 great-grandchildren Louise, Nora, Luke, Max, and Lily.

Also survived by sister-in-law Barbara.

We fondly remember his departed mother Catalina Frau (little-gramma), siblings Esther, Frank, Adrian, and Carmen.

A celebration of his life will follow this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Tony to:
