Anne Wagner

(nee Engel) Passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on March 30, 2022, at the beautiful age of 98 years old. Anne was born in Glidden, Wisconsin on October 17, 1923, the daughter of Carl Engel and Minnie Klinski Engel, she moved to Milwaukee and attended beautician’s school, working in various hair salons in the Milwaukee area. She and her husband Arthur Wagner ended up settling in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Although she was never blessed with children of her own, Anne considered her many nieces and nephews to be her children too, and she showered them and their children with love and affection. After Arthur's death in 2004, Anne still maintained her own home and was as sharp as a tack right up until her time of passing.

Anne is the sister-in-law of Rita Bethke; the aunt of nieces Tammy Koepke, Patti (Randy) Sawicki, Karen Johnson, Judith (Kenneth) Wall, Joan (Dr. Jeffrey) Grant, Jean (Jeffrey) Nigel, Dr. Julia (Neil) Johnson, Ann (Erik) Allerup and Susan (Greg) Roltgen, and nephews Robert Prochnow, William (Rena) Prochnow, Thomas Schuder, Dr. James Wagner, Michael (Mary) Wagner, Paul Bethke and Peter Bethke. She is further survived by many great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Arthur Wagner, Anne was preceded in death by her sisters Jeanette Prochnow and Catherine Guibord; her brother Carl Engel; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Engel, Betty Schuder and Audrey Wagner; her brothers-in-law, Robert Prochnow, Roy Guibord, Robert Schuder, James Wagner and Paul Bethke; and her nephews Andrew Bethke and Scott Engel.

Visitation will be held for Anne on Monday, April 11th from 10am until the time of services at 11am, all at Elm Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, 945 Terrace Drive, Elm Grove, Wisconsin 53122. Interment next to her husband at Wisconsin Memorial Park will take place following the church service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
