Beloved and cherished daughter of God, Jerica, and her cherished daughters, Zaniya and Camaria, died on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Raised by her parents, Acklen and Valeria Banks, she also leaves behind those who gave her the gift of life, Harry Smith and Jill Lipscomb.
An honor’s graduate of Milwaukee High School of the Arts, Jerica played the violin and had a favorite YoYo Ma piece that she would listen to with her brother, David. Jerica was an avid traveler with her family and enjoyed those adventures. She was employed at Froedtert Hospital, but the focus of her life was her children.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by siblings David (Keizo Beeck) Fields, Ashleigh Banks, and Terrence Banks. Maternal survivors are siblings: Junius Jordan, Jameia Lipscomb, Nyesha Smith, Tameka Smith, Tequila Wise, Shakema Smith, and Rosie Smith; and the siblings of Jill Lipscomb: Regina King, Zenobia Lipscomb, Vonda Wilkins, Denise Lipscomb, Truscenia Lipscomb, Tracy Lipscomb, and Michael Lipscomb. Paternal survivors are Shilloh Lopi, Devora Smith, Anthony Smith, and Robert Johnson. She is also survived by her grandparents, Rosie Smith, and Willie Lipscomb.
She was preceded in death by her son, Arzel J.J. Ivery, Jr., her grandparents, Annie and Raymond Harris, Pauline and Tony Spinner, Rosemary Steele, and Acklen Banks, Sr.; her uncle, Michael Spinner, her sister, Amanda Banks, and her brother, Adam Banks, her grandmother Shirley Lipscomb, and her grandfather, Harry Smith, Sr.
Zaniya Rose Ivery was born to Jerica and Arzel Ivery on August 3, 2014. Camaria Banks was born to Jerica and Cortez Jackson on October 7, 2015.
They will be missed by many family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at noon, at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7152 North 41st Street, Milwaukee. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service. A private burial will follow at a later date.
