It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Edward Wedemayer. Al passed away peacefully early Sunday morning February 16, 2025, at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family. Devoted husband to Christine "Chris" (nee Hempe) for 45 years and beloved and loving father to Gina (Derek) Berger and Jennifer (Michael) Nakielski, proud grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren Devin, Jocelyn, Drew and Michael. Who meant the world to him.
Al was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 10,1955. He grew up in Brookfield, Wisconsin and graduated from Brookfield East in 1973. Preceding Al in death are his parents John Sr. and Harriet (nee Bunes) and his brother Jim Wedemayer. Al is survived by siblings, Rob (Marilyn) Wedemayer, John Wedemayer Jr., Marilyn Wedemayer, Sue (Rich) Luedtke, and sister in law Doreen Bock Wedemayer. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends.
Al was a very dedicated employee working for the same company for over 40 years until they closed their doors. Al then retired and went on to find a post retirement job at the Greater Milwaukee Auto Auction. This was exactly where he was meant to be. Not only was it a job to help pass the time in retirement but he was working with cars, something he loved to do. He met many new friends there that were very dear to him.
Al had an extreme love for classic cars. Wrenching, as he would call it, on cars since he was a young boy. His inspired love of cars came from his father who also had a gift of working on the classics. He was lovingly known in the Mopar community as "Mopar Al" or "A-Body Al". He had a passion and a gift for restoring old vehicles. He had a wealth of Mopar knowledge that was unsurpassed. His most favorite vehicle was the Dodge Dart,1969 to be exact. The number of cars he owned, scrapped or restored throughout his lifetime are too many to count. He has countless awards, trophies and pictures to show for all of his hard work. Many great stories too.
Al was a classic, all original parts. Pretty impressive for a 69-year-old. However, his life was taken too soon and we are so incredibly sad. Al's life was ended after a very short 5-week battle with an insanely aggressive Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's B-cell Burkitt's Lymphoma. Al did not want to leave us; he made that very clear. He fought with everything he had in him until his last breath. Al loved his family and all of his friends fiercely. His kindness, beautiful smile and warm demeanor will forever be missed by his family and all who were blessed with the opportunity to know him.
Please join us in honoring and celebrating Al's life and legacy on Friday, February 28th from 930am until the time of service at 11am, all at Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, 13037 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005. In accordance with Al's wishes he will be entombed at a later date in a private setting with his immediate family.
