Obituary

Alida "Ilda" M. Yazbek

With faith in the resurrection, we announce the passing of Ilda Yazbek on December 6, 2022.  She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

She left us while sleeping peacefully at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, Wisconsin.  She was in her 81st year.

Ilda was the beloved mother of Souheil Badran, proud mother-in-law to Lisa, and proud grandmother of Gabriella, Ariana, and Isabella.  Predeceased by her husband Souheil Sr. and brother Samir Yazbek.

Born in Remhallah, Lebanon, she was proud of her home country, despite its struggles.  She was fiercely independent and sacrificed so much.  She lived in Lebanon during the civil war and never missed a day of work at the bank, while travelling back and forth between East and West Beirut sometimes under sniper fire with bombs falling around her.  Her biggest demonstration of love was when her son came to Milwaukee for college.  She said goodbye to him when he got on the plane to the US in 1985 and did not see him again until three-and-a-half years later at graduation from Cardinal Stritch University.  She loved the Sisters at Cardinal Stritch and would always remind him that he was surrounded by God's love.

Ilda lived a full life as a wonderful mother, dedicated employee of a bank, and well-liked ground hostess at airports in Kuwait and Lebanon.  She loved to shop, kept an immaculate house, and was always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and stayed in touch with her friends around the world. She first enjoyed traveling with Souheil when he was young, and then traveled for many more years on her own.  Her travels took her to India, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Spain, and many other beautiful places. Her advice to all: "Enjoy your life while you are still young".  Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her son strong values that have served him well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Ilda's life will be held on December 10th, 2022, at Holy Family Parish, 4849 North Wildwood Avenue, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin 53217 beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Cardinal Stritch University are welcome (6801 North Yates Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53217   www.stritch.edu/giving/one-time-gift). Online condolences are welcomed on this website.
