Victoria Mayes was born on April 18, 1959 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Lee Alice Mayes and Charlie Howell II where she took a leadership role within her family.  Vicky, as she was known by friends and family, moved to Milwaukee where she gave birth to her daughter, Latasha in 1980.  Throughout her life Vicky served her role as a loving sister, aunt, niece and cousin as several other family members moved north.  Forever the rock of her family, Vicky continued to be a reliable source of support when her family needed her most, regardless of where they were in the country.  A stark contrast from the huge household in which she was raised, Vicky valued her privacy and personal time after her relocation to Milwaukee.  However, it was well known that family and friends were always welcomed in her home.  An active community member and caring neighbor, she frequently volunteered her time with the Milwaukee Election Commission and other organizations.

Vicky proudly devoted the balance of her time to raising her only daughter, Tasha, who continued to be her proudest accomplishment throughout her life.  Elated to see her daughter attain multiple college degrees, Vicky played a pivotal role in her family's success.  She assisted in raising both of her granddaughters Haja (19), whom she saw get her first college degree and Sophia (12) who was working on learning a third language.  Vicky's daughter and granddaughters were truly the center of her life, upon whom she showered with unconditional love.

After 60 years of blessing the world with the gift of Victoria Mayes, the Lord called her home following a nearly year long battle with cancer at 11 pm on December 29, 2019.  Vicky is survived by her sister and brother, Colleen and Calvin Mayes; daughter Tasha (Joshua) Parish; two granddaughters, Haja Goggans and Sophia Parish; as well as a host of close family members in Wisconsin, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas.

Visitation Monday, January 6, 2020 at Jelacic Funeral Home from 10:30 AM until the Services at 12:00 Noon.  Interment Graceland Cemetery following services.
