Lettie Curtis Obituary

Lettie Ann Curtis

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on November 12, 1952, the daughter of Walter Curtis and Marjorie (nee Dorsey) Curtis. She received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public Schools, attending Roosevelt Middle School and North Division High School. The oldest of nine children, Lettie spent much of her time helping her mother raise her siblings and being there for her siblings when they needed her help.

Over the years, Lettie worked as an environmental service aide at Shorewood Heights, the Park East Hotel, St. Mary's Hospital, Community Care - Vliet Street, and Community Care - Prospect Place prior to retiring in 2014. She most enjoyed being at home where she could relax and watch her shows, do her crossword puzzles, and listen to her Motown music. When socializing with family and friends., Lettie had that rare ability to make those around her smile and feel good about themselves.

On June 15, 2019, at the young age of 66 years, Lettie was called home to her Lord, passing peacefully at Auroia Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, surrounded by loving family members.

Lettie leaves behind to mourn her passing her beloved children, son Anthony Curtis and daughter Denise Curtis; her significant other for over 40 years, Earl Lewis; her dear brothers, Stanley Curtis, Walter Curtis Jr., Larry Curtis, Randy Curtis, Ronald Curtis and Reginald Curtis and sister, Sandra Glover; her cherished grandchildren, Jevon Curtis and Capri Williams; her loved great-grandchildren, JaMyah Curtis, A'Nila Curtis, Ava Lemmitt and Javas Lemmitt Jr.; her special friend, Gladys Thomas, of whom she affectionally called "sister" and who she went out to eat with frequently; and a host of other relatives and friends. Lettie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Curtis and Marjorie Curtis, and her brother, Michael Curtis.

Visitation will be held for Lettie on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 11:00am until the time of services at 12:00 noon all at Immanuel Church, 4250 North 137th Street, Brookfield, Wisconsin 53005, Pastor Rodney Lloyd, presider. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The children of Lettie would like to express their personal gratitude to Immanuel Church - Brookfield and it's staff, Donald Townes, Pastor Rodney Lloyd, Christina Lloyd, Priscilla Curtis and Estell Davis, all who have given unmeasurable love and support during this difficult time.

May God grant her eternal peace.
