Judith "Judy" Hoerter Obituary

Judith A. Hoerter

(nee Stelzer) Known to all as Judy, she was called home on November 16, 2018 after a long heroic battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Rudolph, Wisconsin on July 2, 1939 and raised in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin by her parents Joseph and Genevieve Stelzer, Judy was the second born of their thirteen children.

Judy was married to Rhody Hoerter on April 8, 1961 and together were blessed with four children: Gerard (Jennifer) Hoerter, Greg (Lori) Hoerter, Gary (Peggi) Hoerter and Shelley (Arnis) Vecitis; 13 grandchildren: Emma, Samuel, Rachel, Jamie, Jason (Hilary), Amanda (Nathan Freberg), Natalie (Josue' Casas), Matthew, Jacob, Ryan (Courtney), Katie, Adam and Michael: and 5 great-grandchildren: Rayanne, Isaiah, Naomi, Elijah and Jackson. Judy's surviving siblings are: Jeanne Peterson, Larry (Judy) Stelzer, Delores (Gary) Majkowski, Linda (Jerry) Breusewitz, Michael (Patty) Stelzer, Joe (Camille) Stelzer, Terry (Diane) Stelzer, Mary Beth (Terry) Tomsyck and Lori (Dave) Schlegel. Also surviving her are her sisters-in-law Debbie Stelzer and Kellie Stelzer, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Genevieve Stelzer; her brothers Jerry Stelzer and David Stelzer; her sister Kathy Wolfe; and her brother-in-law Douglas Peterson.

Judy loved her family and selflessly served them throughout her life. Our "Nana" is greatly loved and will be dearly missed. She shared her many gifts including guitar, keyboard, sewing and quilting, all with a motherly heart. She loved to go camping and travel with Rhody especially during retirement. Most of all she loved and served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her Catholic faith and was given the grace necessary to endure many health-related trials throughout her 79 years without complaint.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Judy on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Eugene Parish, 7600 North Port Washington Road, Fox Point, Wisconsin 53217. Visitation will be held on that same day at St. Eugene Parish from 9:30am until the time of the Mass at 11:00am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon, Wisconsin. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Elizabeth Residence for providing self-giving love to all the residents and helped to make Judy's final years a true gift for her family.

Then Jesus said to his disciples: "If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For he who would save his life will lose it; but he who loses his life for my sake will find it"

Matthew 16:24-25
